WHAT'S A NOTARY?

Amongst other things, Notaries authenticate and prepare documents for use overseas. They also witness signatures when documents are being signed, authenticate a person's identity and certify true copies of documents.

Historically, the role of a Notary can be traced back to Ancient Rome where they were Notaries were known as Scribes. In 1279, the Archbishop of Canterbury was authorised by the Pope to appoint Notaries. In more recent times, Notaries are appointed by the Courts.

Anny Slater is a lawyer and appointed to the role of a Notary by the Supreme Court of New South Wales in accordance with the Public Notaries Act 1997(NSW) and the Public Notaries Appointment Rules 1998.
